November Shenanigans

Hi. My name is Jennifer, and I have a problem keeping up with my blog while I'm pregnant. Good to see you again. Haha. Seriously though. I am having the hardest time finding any energy or desire to work on this thing, but I really want to have these memories and months recorded for when I'm old and gray and I can reminisce on these years. Plus, I can use them as blackmail for when my kids are teenagers. HA!

November was a very interesting month. There was that day i scratched my cornea...that was one of the worst pains I have ever endured. It almost topped childbirth...or was pretty close to it. It was also a month that was full of scary world events and crazy things happening that made many of us fall on our knees and begin praying for our country and our world. It wasn't a month full of negative things though, there were also many great moments. We were able to be with both sides of my family for Thanksgiving, and that was also the week we found out we were pregnant with Peanut! (Of course it was a total secret, and we didn't tell anyone for many many more weeks.)

November 17th, Tuesday, I was working out in the yard picking up sticks out of a massive pile and putting them into garbage cans to be picked up. It was cloudy outside, so while I would normally be wearing my sunglasses since my eyes are so sensitive, I was not wearing them that day. Huge mistake! Since I don't use my left eye very much (my lazy eye and my much weaker eye), I didn't see a small stick poking up out of the pile when I bent down to pick up some more sticks. I felt something jab my eye and didn't know what happened! Levi was taking a nap, and Caleb had just gone inside from playing in the backyard. I ran into the bathroom to look at my eye and noticed something hanging down! It looked like part of my eye had been cut and was loose hanging over. It didn't hurt anymore, but I KNEW I had to get to the eye doctor. Tim got me an appointment with the optometrist across the road from him for an hour later. I FINALLY found somebody who could come stay with the kids, and I was so so so so thankful I was still able to drive AND someone could watch the kids for me. The optometrist said I had one of he biggest corneal abrasions he had ever seen, and I was lucky it wasn't worse and I wouldn't need surgery. THANK GOD! He gave me some instructions about pain and made a follow-up. I didn't have any pain and thought he was overreacting, but on the way to Kroger to get my eye medicine (to prevent infection) and then home I started having very sharp pains in my eye. I had to pull over twice because of pain and was so glad to make it home safely. The pain only got worse from then on, and I was really glad once Tim got home. I had to be in complete dark, and NO light could come anywhere near me. The pain can be compared to labor pains in the 8-10cm stage, but it was in my eye. I am not exaggerating. The wonderful news is that the eye heals very quickly, and by the next day my pain was already improving. No more labor contraction pains in my eye. Just very sensitive. A few sisters took turns the next day staying at my house with me and caring for the kids. It was such a huge help. I couldn't have done it without them. I also got these cool dark rolly glasses that helped me deal with light until my eye healed enough. These wonderful glasses, and the two amazing sisters who so kindly drove me the Caleb's school, allowed me and Levi to make it to Caleb's Thanksgiving program at school on Friday which I was so scared I was going to miss. (Tim dropped him off at school that morning.)

In the beginning, I could barely open my eye.

Here I could only open my eye because I was in a dark room with little light.

These glasses helped me so much! I still had some trouble in the beginning outside even with both of these glasses on, but it was do-able.

AND FINALLY, around Sunday I was pretty much back to normal.

Silly boy all handsome and ready for his school program!

I can't believe how big he has gotten!

Caleb and his classmates were the cutest little Indians in their school Thanksgiving program.

My little Indian. :)

After the program, they had lots of tables set out with a huge array of snacks for all of the children and their families to eat together. Here is Caleb and Levi being so cute with Caleb's friends.

The kids decorated these turkey feathers at home, and they were displayed on the wall. Our feather is the short orange and red one: third one from the left side on the top.

For Thanksgiving, we drove up to my hometown for lunch with my mom's side of the family, and an early dinner with my dad's side. Of course, we stuffed ourselves silly with delicious food, saw lots of our family we haven't seen in a while, saw some of our new baby cousins, and got lots of hugs and love. Friday we met Heather and London for chatting and fun at the House of Bounce, and we spent a lot of time with them Saturday too while my mom and step-dad worked. Heather and I even got to have some alone time while I treated her to a pedicure for her birthday (early present), and then met the guys for lunch. It's always so good to spend with friends and family. I wish we could do it more often.

Playing with Daddy at Pop and Nana's house

At my Aunt's house, there were tons of our family there! We have so many cousins and aunts and uncles. The kids had such a blast playing with them!

Some of the cousins (my 1st and 2nd cousins)

My cousin, Adrianna, and I

I couldn't get a better quality picture of these two, but my 1st cousin Brian and Caleb have the best time together. Such sweet cousins!

We were honored to be able to meet our brand new 2nd cousin. He came a little early and was still in the NICU at the time, but he is now home and doing wonderfully!!

Friday night we met Heather and London for fun at House of Bounce for some grown up time while the kids played. Logan showed up toward the end because he had work.

On Saturday, we got pedicures to celebrate this beautiful lady's birthday!

Then we met the hubbies and our kids for lunch..Chinese buffet no doubt.

They look innocent...

but really they are not. :) The three musketeer buddies!
Our last night there, we watched the Egg Bowl while the kids played...

We all enjoyed popcorn...

And Nana and Levi enjoyed snuggles...

And kisses.

Lastly, here a few cool things and pictures from the month of November....

We worked a lot on writing letters and numbers with Caleb in Nov.

He even wrote and sounded out the word "rat"!

Levi started being really obsessed with "driving", and every time we got in the car he cried that he wanted to drive. I'm glad he doesn't do that anymore. Haha.

At 21 months, Levi ate and loved frosting for the first time in his life. He wouldn't even touch it without crying at his 1st birthday.

Although he's never seen any superhero shows nor did he have any books about them, Caleb is obsessed with Spiderman....and other superheros too.

When one watches Mommy get ready too many times. He totally put this on himself haha.

This is the first picture I took after my eye started healing from the abrasion. I was so thankful for my eye sight, and that I could look at these sweet faces after that.

Levi being sweet one day at lunch

Of course, Caleb had to join us :)

I grabbed a quick picture of Aunt Christy with the boys when she stayed with us one day for work.

Our cute bulldog

Our kids LOVE bubbles!

THIS smile gets me every time!

This is one silly boy!

He always copies big brother.

AAAAAAAA-dorable!

We had a lot of warm and cold weather in November. When it was warm, we spent a lot of time at the park, and when it was cold we bundled up and played in our yard, played in the house, or went for walks.

Playing with Daddy

What's more fun than playing in laundry baskets..our clean clothes baskets by the way ;)

Sayings with kids:

Caleb: "Mommy take care of me so I wont be sick anymore."
Me: "Of course I'll take care of you." (My heart!)

Caleb started saying "Oh  my goodness!" and Levi followed suit with "Oh goodness!" Cutest thing ever!

Caleb: "Mom, you need to buy me one (a weight) because I'm 4." (Apparently someone wants to be like Daddy. :) )

Caleb asked Tim and I about bones all the time. He was fascinated with them!

Levi: "Where'd it go??"

Levi: "Stool" (More like tool.)

Levi: "Hi, baby!" (I always say this to him, and he picked up on it. It's so so cute when he says it!)

Levi: "Yay! That's mine!" (Talking about Daddy making a smoothie.)

Levi: "I have one too!"

Levi: "I help you!"

Levi: "Bu hao" and "Hun hao" (Very bad and very good in Chinese)

Levi can also count from 1-10 and can sing half of a lot of songs. Levi also started to be afraid of the dark in November.
