Getting All Caught Up

I am trying to get everything caught up on this blog so that it's up-to-date, and I can write about our lives month to month as they come. The last time I posted specifically about Caleb was when he turned 3 on Sept. 30th, 2014. Now that I'm all done with the month-by-month posts of Levi's first year of life, I want to catch Caleb up and have us all on the same page.

When I write about Levi, I usually talk about Caleb too and have tons of pictures of him along with Levi, so I won't go into tooo much detail this time. Here are some fun tidbits and pictures (some I've posted before) of Caleb from October 1 through the end of January. I'm so glad I'll be able to look back and read all of the cute and fun little things my kids have done growing up. It's totally worth the extra work to keep the blog going.

In October, Caleb had a few super cute sayings/word bloopers:
  • He started telling us to "Go away, please" when he needed to go potty. I guess he's big enough to know he needs privacy. Bitter sweet.
  • "My turn" and "do it myself!" started
  • A "pumpkin" was called a "pumpkin patch" for months.
  • Finally called a "sausage" by it's real name instead of "baby hotdog" (Our way of tricking our picky boy into eating something new.)
  • "I don't want it."
  • After telling Caleb "No", his response is "I want you to say yes!" (LOVE IT!)

I also don't want to forget these precious moments:
  • Hide and seek with a 3 year old is way too much fun!! I seriously could not stop laughing at his "hmmm where did Mommy go" as he looked through his binoculars hahah. One time he even yelled out "I have to pee!" because he couldn't find me, and he wanted me to come out. Then he told me he didn't have to go and for me to go back. Best part was he acted like he had no idea where I was even though he totally did! Non-stop laughing!
  • Sometimes you just can't help but have a dance party with your 3 year old...including running in crazy circles around the house and jumping on the couch.

Played our first board game

Feeling awkward having to stand by himself haha

Visiting with my Aunt and Uncle who live in Indiana

November had quite a few adorable new words/sayings as well:
  • "I am a big boy."
  • "I am a big man. Daddy, you are a big boy." HAHA
  • "I'm a big man like Daddy!" (I'm not sure he knows what he believes just yet haha)
  • He began to tell Tim and I, "But, I said no," like we say to him. We nipped that in the bud REAL fast!
  • Learned to say "Can I.." instead of "I want.."
  • First time he sang "Jesus Loves Me" to Levi when he started crying in the grocery store. A woman stopped me to tell me how much it touched her heart! Precious big brother!
This was also the first month that Caleb decided that he was done with diapers at night, and he would even take them off after Daddy put one on him for bed. This was the month he was completely potty trained. Whoo hoo!!

Largest puzzle we've done to date

He loves trains.

Fun doings and saying in December:
  • "I'm not sick, Mom. Heroes don't get sick!"
  • Has a serious hero obsession :)
  • Called the pentagon shape a "pancake gone" HA!
  • Favorite ice cream this month is "pink" ice cream
  • Learned how to blow his nose
  • Can open all doors even with safety knobs on them
  • Began responding to questions asked when watching kid's educational shows :)

January was a challenging month for us, but we still had lots of good memories. The kids caught an awful stomach bug, and Caleb had some serious fear afterwards. There was a regression back into old habits and some problems with holding, so we had to revert back to diapers for about a week until there was a breakthrough and all was right in the world again.

The older Caleb gets the cuter it is when he talks:
  • "That is as hard as a rock!" (Repeating what I had said about a frozen food the day before hehe)
  • "Thank You God for my spirit." (Started wanting to say thank you prayers before bed and meals)
  • "Thank You God for my Levi."
  • Said "Gracias" when I gave him a popsicle. Thanks to Dora :)

Some things that he does amaze me:
  • In January he corrected me on how I was singing the "Umizoomi" theme song...and yes he was right.
  • He began helping me make up his bedtime and naptime stories. It's incredibly cute but also makes his sleep routine a lot longer haha! I love his imagination and creativity. It's entertaining :).
  • Once he had a bruise and asked for a band aid.
  • Got the ice cream out of the freezer, found a spoon in the drawer, got his little stool, and began scooping it himself into his bowl....all by himself. Whoa! (I had told him he could have some ice cream as an incentive to go potty during our stressful post stomach virus episode.)
  • Can take off all his clothes, find more clothes, and put them on all by himself! (He may get shorts in the winter, but it's a start! :))
