Ordinary Days in the Divine Dispensing: Caleb turns 10 months old

Happy 10 months sweet boy!!

Being a mom is serious business especially when you are a "stay at home mom" (SAHM). My days are FILLED with Caleb; and although the Lord Jesus is 1st in my life and my center, Caleb takes up most of my time and brain power. As he gets older he is getting more and more independent, but yet does not have the capacity to be as independent as he wants. It's funny to watch him be so adventuresome and be in amazement at all these new things, but then realize he has no idea what he's doing and cries out for mama or daddy. I am seeing more and more how this kid is going to be a challenging toddler. Hopefully this will encourage me to live a life of much and thorough prayer!! ^__^

After Caleb's 9 month old check-up with Dr. Adams, Caleb did not like being told he was a little behind in eating solids and talking. It seems like just a day or two after we go see the pediatrician he randomly just starts doing the things the doc touched on. He does not like to not get a 100 A+ haha! Hopefully he will keep this mentality throughout his life and try his best at everything he does. So, pretty much 2 days after his appointment he started eating a lot more solids! We believe he hit a growth spurt because he was eating like crazy! Of course, we had to help him by breaking up the foods and such, but he was eating it all. A list of his new foods (as a solid food and not mushed): corn, cherry, toast, turkey burger, mushroom, lactaid strawberry yogurt and yobaby toddler yogurt, V8 veg/fruit juice, chicken broth, beef broth, bbq sauce, cheese, pineapple, nectarine, deli ham, deli turkey, beef tips, yogurt drink, and tofu!! He LOVES fruit and yogurt the most and eats everything else very well....just still not enough. He prefers to just eat what we eat. He doesn't want anything special. I think that's GREAT!

In more exciting news, Caleb ate solids for the first time completely by himself (7/6), began to wave ^__^ (7/7), stayed with my friend Sara for a WHOLE hour while I went to the dentist(!!) This is a HUGE one! (7/9), got his 5th tooth on the top right side! (7/11), said "mama" for the first time which is also his first word (7/11), began turning pages in his book for me while I read to him (7/11), can bend down and pick up things off the floor (the first thing he picked up was a book :)) (7/11), sat down by himself from a standing position for the first time (7/12), got his 6th tooth coming in on the top left side! (7/15), laughed with me and at my funny faces for 30 minutes! This shows he's really developing his people skills and beginning to understand a lot of things. It was so sweet! (7/15) While putting Caleb down for a nap, he stuck his paci in my mouth. I guess he wanted to share haha! (7/18). Tim and I got our first date night ALONE! WHOO HOO!! (7/19) Caleb started walking while only holding one hand although he gets so scared and is afraid to really let go. He clings on pretty tightly. He likes his security. (7/21) Our first time as a family to participate in the SSOT, and Caleb's first time ever!! (7/23) Poor baby boy got his first owie when he fell face first when trying to walk. Thankfully it was very minor, and he only cried for a minute or two (7/25). His favorite new place to be is under the table while we eat. This may or may not be a good thing. Ha! (7/27) We borrowed a walking toy from one of the sisters, and Caleb has been practicing walking! The first time he just pushed the toy and he ended up on his tummy. It was kind of traumatic haha, but now he's doing it so well!! (7/29) Caleb started learning to pucker when he kisses. He concentrates SOOO hard, and it is the cutest thing ever!! (7/27) While shopping at Walmart, I was carrying Caleb in the Ergo, and he was eating a rice cake snack. He looked up at me, smiled, and offered me some of his snack. When I took a bite, he stared in amazement ^__^ (7/30).
